About 4 km from Cal Domino you'll find the blue-flagged beach at Sant Antoni de Calonge. It is our closest beach and forms part of the famous Cami de Ronda (coastal path). The stretch from Torre Valentina (at the southern end of Sant Antoni beach) to Platja d'Aro is arguably one of the best short coastal walks on the Costa Brava.
It's mid-September and most of the summer holiday crowds have gone. The water's warm, the restaurants are open for business and it's a very pleasant 25-30ºC. Perfect for a day at the beach or a hike along the Cami de Ronda.
This part of the coastal walk is about 4.5km, so a round trip with lunch in Platja d'Aro will come in at about 9km. There are plenty of chirringuitos on the way for drinks and snacks. Firstly, you can walk to Sant Antoni beach from the Villa via the medieval path that takes you through corn fields and vineyards to the coast. It takes about 45 minutes.... If a round trip hike of about 15km is too much for you, find a parking spot (easy in September) near to Torre Valentina and head south.
The path is pretty much well maintained although a little natural in places. You'll cross a number of bays and beaches, so from north to south: Cala de Roques Planes, Cala dels Esculls, Cala del Forn, Platja Can Cristus, Playa Cala Gogo, Playa Cala Cap Roig, Platja Comptat de Sant Jordi, Cala Belladona, Platja Punta Els Canyers, Cala del Pi, Cala sa Cova, Platja Rovira and finally Platja d'Aro.
Take a towel and cozzie and you're all set.
